Thwaite Brow Conservation Group
The Conservation group, all volunteers, work under the direction of Steve Edwards, the LCCCountryside Officer, Project Co-ordinator, to manage and maintain Thwaite Brow as a pleasant woodland area with good paths for easy walking and with excellent views over Morecambe Bay.

Thwaite Brow woods, located at the northern end of the village, between the Lancaster canal and Mount Pleasant lane, are owned by Bolton-le-Sands Parish Council and are open to the general public at all times.
The conservation group meets in the woodland on the 2nd Sunday of each month, at 10.00 am, from September to April and on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, at 7.00 pm, during the Summer months of May to August. Also during the September to April period the group meet for discussion and talks on many diverse environmental issues, see the 2007/8 programme below.
Membership of the group is free and open to all. Members of the public are also invited to attend any of the meetings, Indoors or in the woods
Work done by the group includes maintaining pathways, building steps on the steeper slopes, clearing areas to allow wild flower growth, removal of dead or deceased trees and planting new trees. Birds and other wildlife are encouraged in the woods by providing nest boxes and other suitable habitat.

*The work is easy and enjoyable.
*Outdoor meetings are supervised
*Tools are provided .
*Group members do the jobs they enjoy and no-one is pressured to do more than they want to do.
*People of all ages are welcome to come and help.
*Safety is, of course, paramount.
